The Agony of Socks, Cured!

Socks are garments I'd rather not wear. Since I can remember, I was a sock-snob. My mom never could please me with socks. The seams would be in the wrong place, or they fell down all the time or they were just too hot. Honestly, I'm happiest in my Chaco flip-flops, t-shirt and shorts. Unfortunately, flip-flops don't work well with running and cycling (or swimming for that matter).

A few weeks ago I was at ACME and had made the dread decision to buy more socks. I asked Allen, "OK, what's the best sock I can buy?" He pointed out a few and then said, "Frankly, Swiftwick socks are the best...but they're a little expensive. I love mine." I begrudgingly paid $13.95 for a pair of Merino wool (huh?) Swiftwick compression socks. (The Olefins, size "two," are $11.95 per pair at ACME) I brought them home with a couple of other pairs of socks I wanted to try...and forgot about them.

I returned from vacation a few days ago, found the Swiftwicks, and decided to try them. I wore them the next day cycling. WOW! He wasn't kidding!! These are absolutely the most comfortable, best-fitting socks I've EVER put on my feet.

They're SO comfortable, I went back to ACME the day after trying on the Merinos and bought several more pairs of both Merinos and Olefins in black and white, size "two." I even wore the black ones to work the next day...just let the Swiftwick logo show under my khaki pants. They were so comfortable, I didn't care how it looked!

Bottom line is, I'm rapidly throwing out old, worthless socks and replacing them with Swiftwicks. I can't say enough good about them! They only sound expensive until you wear them...
